KEEPERS OF THE DREAM: A Myth for a New Age

By Celeste Allegrea Adams

x

.

Keepers of the Dream, by Celeste Allegrea Adams, is the mystical tale of a woman who embarks on a magical odyssey down the Mississippi River, in search of her lost daughter. It is a journey that takes her out of the depths of despair and into the heart of self-discovery where she outgrows old wounds, and transforms into the colorful Creatrix, Eartha Mae.

This magical tale runs parallel to the journey of the embittered and ambitious archaeologist, Betina Sharp, whose life changes when her path collides with Eartha Mae and her daughter Evangeline, and the truth of an ancient mystery text is revealed.

Keepers of the Dream is a myth for the future, based on the mysteries of the past. It fuses the poetic and the political as it celebrates the return of the sacred feminine, in a most original and memorable incarnation.

what people are saying about "Keepers of the Dream"

Keepers of the Dream is indeed a Myth for a New Age. It deftly updates ancient goddess lore and dresses it up for the 21st century with skeptical scholars, recycled lovers, metamorphosing mothers, corrupt catacombs, living art, sweetness and madness, hope and loss… all through the eyes and hearts of seekers and dreamers on the quest to truth and belonging. Celeste Adams’ story swirls you along an inner journey of discovery and the spiraling breath of the ancient goddess energy embraces the reader as delightfully as it does the intriguing characters in Keepers of the Dream.

This magical and heartwarming tale celebrates the sacred trinity of mother, daughter, and earth spirit as it embraces the kinship between goddess spirituality and ecology. It is an original and entertaining myth for the new millennium that takes a stand for the living earth, and challenges old myths that threaten our planet. I highly recommend this delightful story that has otherworldly tones of magical realism, and the power and beauty of a legend.

The modern world—perched on the threshold of a new millennium—had never experienced the likes of the self-proclaimed Creatrix, Eartha Mae. Nor were they ready for the whiskey-swigging archaeologist Betina Sharp or the sixteen-year-old waif, Evangeline. What this curious trio has in common with each other is an inexplicable whisper of voices in the wind, a chorus heard by many disenchanted souls yet heeded by none...until now. What they discover on their journey is a revelation older than time...and more potent than the contents of Pandora's box.

This is a story of transformation, using the metaphor of the butterfly emerging from the chrysalis. Celeste revisions the timeless myth of the hero’s journey for our times, which along with the emergence of the divine feminine, creates a new partnership myth for the future. Weaving together the threads of her breadth of knowledge of the ancient myths and sacred world traditions, with an eye for detail, this is a book that can be enjoyed on many levels.

Celeste Allegra Adams is a wonderful storyteller. In her novel, Keepers of the Dream she weaves together a cast of truly unique characters. The development and unfolding of their imaginative adventures is intriguing, refreshing and very entertaining. What a fascinating manifestation of the many-breasted images of the Great Goddess she has created in the earth mother Eartha Mae. This is a well-crafted, highly original saga.

Keepers of the Dream, by Celeste Allegrea Adams, is a book that I really would like to see translated into the Portuguese Language. It's difficult to find and put into words all the magnitude, all the riches and variable myriads of experiences Celeste tell us in her book. She was able to match, brilliantly, in one single book a synthesis of her experiences and spiritual researches which mirrors the human beings search for a life full of harmony and peace.

Written in a mythological way, it shows the trinity: Father, Son and Holy Spirit moving from the male archetypal to the female archetypal who is able to nurturing, being intuitive and most of all reorganizing life specially in the ecological system on the planet we live.

Through fiction, she intelligently shows the reality we are living, in a planetary level, and more than that, she brings us hope for thes future.

Reading Keepers of the Dream, spirit chills poured through me on both the first and the second readings. Captivating and compelling, it had a profound effect, like reading Gabriel Garcia Marquez's One Hundred Years of Solitude and Eckhardt Tolle's The Power of Now. These works are all powerful vehicles of transformation, through contacting the creative potency inherent in the word and its connection to more subtle realms of life. Celeste Allegrea Adams is an awakener with her words, catalyzing perception of new realms of possibility.

Starhawk has commented on the power of language to shape consciousness as a significant branch of magic. True earth magic is the ability to contact other realms and bring a sense of spiritual substance into the known world, expanding reality as we know it.

Whether it is creating the world through the word, or expressing higher levels of knowing, artists are seers, providing an ability to sense beyond the daily blinders of collective agreements that make things concrete and known. Celeste Allegrea Adams is a creatrix. In her own words she defines it: "Our life is more than a reaction--it is an act of creation. Those who choose to see themselves as creators of their world, move into a place of enormous personal power. A creatrix enjoys taking responsibility for everything in her life and feels compelled to shift the things that aren't working in the world."

Works of fiction are interesting contradictions. While not literally true, they can intuit and express a level of truth that is deeper than empirical fact. Stories are another form of truth, providing an aesthetic knowing about life that is already whole. Fictional stories of great vibrancy, such as this work, provide a compass for the heart to navigate in the world that is far more focused and facile than mere pragmatism. Adams has been able to articulate a language and conception of this consciousness that has a tangible feel of its own reality. This work pierces the veil of illusion and looks behind the blind curtain to reveal a world of wonder and revelation, amidst the turmoil and angst of the human conditions of life.

As a creatrix, Adams has touched the realm of the muse with this visionary tale of mythological proportions, inviting us into the inner sanctum of the earth mother and the unified field of feminine archetypal creative consciousness. Keepers of the Dream is a story that involves three lead femmes; each in her own search for the elusive feminine; Eartha Mae, her sixteen year-old daughter Evangeline, and Betina, an archeologist in a mid-life crisis. These three women make up a trinity, each in her own throes of an initiatory journey to find the holy grail of the heart and return to the sovereignty of the sacred earth feminine that is spirit embodied.

...........................................................................................................................

The lead character, Eartha Mae, is herself a human undergoing a tremendous metamorphosis into becoming an archetypal conduit for spiritual potency, acting capably in favor of life. The author Riane Eisler wrote many years ago that the highest power on the planet is the ability to affirm life, and Eartha Mae goes through the initiate's journey of moving away from the mundane world and submitting to processes of surrender and change that allow this higher purpose to become infused in her form.

Eartha Mae is an embodiment of the Great Earth Mother in an advanced human form. As her body becomes more receptively tuned to receive and hold the new energies, it begins to grow more mammaries, so as an earth mother, she has a greater capacity to nourish life. She enters a quantum reality, moving beyond the current conception of possibility. She suffuses a 'calming light' and her many breasts are a fountain, pouring the milk of love and giving nurturing sustenance to people in deeply divided conflict, immediately rendering a profound change. The power of the human mother to affirm life and create kinship bonds, is one of the most lucid examples of earth ecology possible, of the interconnected web of life in harmony.

This work brilliantly illuminates the ability of creation to reorganize itself. Creation is local, we are each the site of creative unfolding, and this archetypal, ecological tale provides a bountiful vision of what is possible now. The mysterium tremendum, the potency of creation to become another form of itself, is portrayed with perceptive astuteness in this work. As Eartha Mae is able to move through the process of reorganizing, she comes more in alignment with the living system of the larger body of intelligent earth.

...........................................................................................................................

By coming into an inner alignment with earth unity, she awakens to the powers of creation that she is in direct contact with. She realizes the ability to use her thoughts to positively create or destroy life. Eartha Mae has become far more powerful and makes a conscious commitment to be a vehicle to affirm life, and is finally able to finish the initiatory round that she began, including to be reunited with her own daughter. The book describes the kinship between them as a 'luminous thread' a cord of continuity that connects them through their painful and despairing ten-year separation. Like her mother, Evangeline holds an amazing capacity to resonate with spirit and express its qualities of coherence, beauty and wonder, other expressions of the magic that exists from being in direct contact with the sacredness of life. While searching for her lost mother, Evangeline faces many conflicts, primarily with her father and a psychiatrist who seek to subjugate her with fear. Both men have lost their vision and exert their powers to control and censor her natural ability to see deeply into the vital intelligent nature of life and the beauty that exists within.

The third member of this passionate threesome; Betina, is spiraling around the globe and into inner realms, hearing the call and following the winds of change that beckon. The wind is a form of air, also representing the deeper quality of the 'breath of life.' This 'Swirling Holy Wind' vitalizes life as it moves through all things, causing them to reshape themselves. Betina is in her own form of mysterium tremendum, with her life transforming through a whirlwind of destruction, as the old is removed to make way for the new. Through it, she is in contact with an ancient order of the feminine 'keepers of the dream,' These women spirits, lead by Marletta, sustain her quest with the subtle substance of spiritual essence, profound and lucid otherworldly experiences to help her find her way back to a place of remembering what is true.

Ms. Adams has commented that she sees the cycles of evolution as a dance in which different energies emerge to lead the way for a time. Now is the time for the continuing vision of the feminine that affirms life to reemerge and provide momentum for new cycles of growth and expansion. This work addresses the poignant call for the time, to be able to perceive, acknowledge and cooperate with the living system of intelligence that has existed upon the earth for billions of years, evolving to a high level of refinement. The living system of creation that is earth provides incredible bounty as a foundation for life here.

The challenge of our time that the feminine archetypal principle is addressing is to honor the earth as a living intelligence and inhabit this great garden and become aware of the extraordinary design that already exists to sustain us so we may thrive in harmony. In a transition from a Piscean age to another era, Ms. Adams' work is leading the way, providing a powerful and palpable vision to meet the purpose of an Aquarian age, bringing forth innovative and creative ideas for the benefit of the earth.

In Paul Ray and Sherrie Ruth Anderson's provocative work, The Cultural Creatives, they distilled enormous volumes of social data to illuminate what is needed for the cultural collective to step forward with positive ecological momentum. Although they provided enormous data to show that a great shift has occurred and that a vast majority of the public is concerned with our ecological situation, the real value of this book is their identification of critical qualities that we must cultivate in our collective consciousness in order to create a positive and productive way of life on this planet. Key qualities include moral imagination, wisdom of the heart and a positive and creative vision of the future. Keepers of the Dream is a work that embodies these qualities. Ray and Anderson write, "A vision of the future that is true at the soul level of a culture can inspire the creation of a new way of life."

A revelatory work that is a conduit for shifting consciousness, Keepers of the Dream provides a true compass of the heart, an inspired knowing of what is true for the future seeking to emerge. Creation is inherent and cannot be denied. A torch flame of truth, this book is full of spiritual potency that sets off tremors of knowing within. A creatrix of considerable authenticity, Celeste Allegrea Adams has brought forth a work to captivate us with the truth of spirit and compel us to see the everyday world through the eyes of magic. Through lifting the veil, we can see the highly spirited sacredness that exists. A work of kaleidoscopic lushness, it offers us a coherent, lively tale to tickle us into a more expanded way of perceiving the world as a unified magical web of life. With a bold vision that uplifts and rejoices, we are all invited to celebrate the enormous potency of creation.

Our civilizations have been like a great bird. As in all things created, there must be a balance, so the bird has two wings. One wing is strong. The other has been kept tightly bound. In this condition, it will flap around knocking things over, going in circles, creating chaos, but will never get off the ground. The strong wing is the masculine consciousness, enforcing its vision and its will. It has been writing history and making all the decisions that have effected us and will continue to effect us for a very long time.

The other wing is the feminine consciousness. It has not been allowed equal place at the seats of power. This treacherous and sorry imbalance has brought about our histories of war, subjugation, mighty armies, and poor schools. Our societies are rushing headlong into complete annihilation because only the masculine voice is being heard. If we are to survive, women everywhere and the Sacred Feminine that is in every man must be freed and allowed to step forward to affect the general welfare of the earth's populations.
